Double Apple & Pears with Carrots Smoothie Recipe - A Deliciously Refreshing Digestive Treat1/2/2017 Another great tasting smoothie recipe to try out. Green and Red Apples, Pears and Carrots blended to a refreshing sweet puree! This recipe is full of fiber and antioxidants - great for digestion / gut issues and a natural defense against many illnesses and chronic conditions! Ingredients
PreparationWash all the ingredients under cool, running water to remove any unwanted contaminants from the production and sale process making their way into your delicious smoothie. Depending on the strength capabilities and size of your blender/juicer slice the ingredients to an appropriate size and then one by one add the ingredients ensuring the carrots are included between the other ingredients so that a more complete blend is easily obtained. With a blender you will have the benefit of the full fiber intake as all the material is included in the smoothie created. You may wish to add ice according to taste as a way to alter the thickness of your smoothie or extend the yield of a particular batch. Juicers, on the other hand, typically remove the pulp from your returned yield, thereby dramatically reducing the amount of fiber retained in the final juice mix, leading to a more liquid 'juice' in the end. Bear this in mind when using the ingredient mix as a therapeutic aid for digestive issues where fiber is your focus. Health BenefitsApples, pears and carrots are all high high in dietary fiber which is great for the gut and digestive health. Apples: Rich in fiber and important antioxidants, and flavanoids. The phytonutrients and antioxidants in apples reduce the risk of developing cancer, hypertension, diabetes, and heart disease. Pears: Another great fiber and antioxidant containing fruit, with an abundance of vitamins - calcium, magnesium, potassium, copper, manganese, folate etc. Of important note: A new analysis of the Nurse's Health Study showed that across all fruit and vegetables analyzed for flavonoid content, the combination of apples and pears produced the most consistent ability to lower the risk of Type 2 diabetes. Carrots: An excellent source of beta-carotene, fibre, and antioxidants. Rich in Vitamin A, C, K, B8, pantothenic acid, folate, potassium, iron, copper and manganese, carrots are a truly nutrient rich veg. Good For

Finding Fiber in our Foods! A Comprehensive List of Foods and their Typical Fiber Content12/30/2016 THERE REALLY ARE PLENTY OF SOURCES OF FIBER IN OUR FOOD Ok let’s get the spiel out of the way - since we wouldn't want to be accused of advocating a fiber-only diet (could you imagine such a treacherous and "windy" path to go down!). Your diet should be balanced and include at least five portions of fruit and vegetables a day, plus whole grains. Adults should aim to eat 18g (0.6oz) to 30g (1.05oz) of fiber a day, depending on their height and weight. Your health specialist / doctor can provide a more specific target for those more concerned for health reasons. So what foods contain Fiber? In brief, fiber is found in:
Ok so what about this food then? Lets break this down a bit shall we? After all, what's the point of a dedicated article if we don't put some numbers to it!? Below you will find the listed foods each with the amount of fiber typically found in the given portion. Fresh FruitGood sources of fiber in fresh fruit include:

So what's so important about Fiber?By including a range of fiber sources in our daily and weerkly intake we get access to both soluble and insoluble fiber types.
Soluble fiber dissolves in the water in your digestive system. It helps to reduce the amount of cholesterol in your blood. If you have constipation, gradually increasing sources of soluble fiber can help soften your stools and make them easier to pass. Insoluble fiber doesn't dissolve in water. It passes through your gut without being broken down and helps other foods move through your digestive system more easily. Insoluble fiber keeps your bowels healthy and helps prevent digestive problems. In general, a diet with adequate fiber helps to prevent heart disease, diabetes, weight gain, some cancers and improves digestive health. It is an excellent dietary focal point for many intestinal problems due to its ability to cleanse and flush the system, particularly for conditions such as Diverticulosis - check out our article on Diverticulitis, Juices and Smoothies for more on this. But don't suddenly start eating loads to make up for lost time! A sudden increase in fiber intake is a one way ticket to some heavy flatulence. Don't say we didn't warn you! By combining foods with antioxidants that boost cognitive function by increasing blood flow to the brain we can create a whole host of natural goodness that has almost immediate positive influences on our brain activity and cognition as well as improving memory and overall performance over time. Beetroot, a natural vasodilator, is really great for improved blood flow to the brain, as well as Blueberries and Blackberries. Combined with potassium sources such as the favourite Bananas and Coconut Water you're onto a winner. We've saved those for some upcoming recipes though just to let your mouth water a bit first ;) For now though... IngredientsWe'll kick things off with a really simple recipe that should be easy to find around the house without having to go out and speifically buy any extras.
It's simple and only includes the following:
Another fantastic juicer from the Breville Group. While a slightly older model the increased power and further options to play with combined with the smart chip auto-asjuster make this a modest step up from the Breville Fountain Plus. Having stood the test of time this Juicer has proved to be a firm favourite for those who know exactly what they want and how to make it. At a more than reasonable price, often found discounted below the aforemetioned Juicer Plus model (no doubt due to its release date) it is no surprise it holds the Best Seller badge on Amazon. The Pros
The Cons
VerdictIt's not often a piece of machinery comes along and stands as long as this one has. Sure there have been some increases in capability and some design aspects internally, both in terms of composition and raw materials may be slightly different for some of the newer models, but the jury is out on this longstanding customer favourite, especially with the built-in smart chip function. If you can catch this Juicer on offer it would be hard not to justify snatching it up. With all the fantastic feedback it has received over the years and its continued stock movement this is certainly setting the standard for Juicers old and new. Where can you get this Juicer?A truly great buy for those looking for endless juice and smoothie ideas! Makes a fantastic gift for friends and family and is bound to inspire even the most reluctant to try new flavours.
